((Upgraded completely to a new template. Was bored... he's still the same person just with more detail & I changed his weapons a bit so he doesn't have the three))
Character's Name: Zaras
Alias: Ace
Age: 18 (Human years [HY]) / Approx. 24 (Body's years? He ages a bit faster than normal people but doesn't realize it. He is as young as he feels)
Gender: Male
Race: ... (get to that later)
Height: 5'9
Eye Color: Emerald Green
Hair Color and Style: Black feathers
Clothing: Black tattered leather jacket [biker style] with several pockets, straps, and light weight links. The collar supports itself so it is always up unless Zaras decides to force it down, which is usually when he needs better vision in fights whether they're in the air or on the ground. Underneath that he wears a thin black collared shirt that buttons up top. His pants are blue jean possessing small tears and a few worn spots particularly at the knees and hips. To finish he has hard black boots that fit tight and are meant for the outside.
Appearance: Think of Falco from Star Fox (see pic). Human-esc frame such as stands on two legs and has five fingers, but his feet and head are that of a bird's. He has a long tail of feathers as well.
Personality: Very light-hearted and adventurous. Never backs out of a challenge and usually makes up his own little contests just for entertainment. Can be rough around the edges at times, but is most often a nice guy. His carefree nature makes him hard to scare but easily lose attention to detail and long stories. He utterly fails at reading maps, only able to follow easy vocal directions. With his appearance he is used to people gawking and has learned to ignore what other people think of him, being completely comfortable with the way he is.
Skill, abilities, &/or talents: Really good runner and can get decent air in a jump. Is also very good with simple acrobatics like cartwheels, rolls, etc. Has exceptional piloting abilities for most aircraft, and has the skill to fix the machines as well.
Weaknesses: Isn't really physically strong but can hold his own. Can't really maneuver land based machines like tanks without being told the controls and having a ton of practice. He finds them too clunky and slow, preferring the maneuverability and speed of airborne vehicles.
Weapons/Precious Items: Regular energy blaster (carries on his belt), sniper rifle (only 5 shots).
Occupation: Scrounger
Character history: Zaras was originally created by the Blockers as Project D.A.M.P.E.N. [Destroy All Mutated Psychics Everywhere Now] to be a weapon against the psychics. Unfortunately for them they were unable to create what they hoped to and the project was abandoned in the early stages of his life. Therefore he was left in the streets of an earthen city in hopes he would just die off. Zaras found his way into the Metropolis orphanage, where he gave himself his name. Often he was getting into trouble trying to impress the other normal kids to gain acceptance.
Eventually he grew bored of his attempts and failures, deciding that there must be something better he could be spending his time on. Approximately at the age of 9 [HY] he left the orphanage after spending 3 years there in hopes of discovering more interesting places. It didn't take long for a small group of Blocker sympathizers to find him and deem him a psychic enemy due to his 'mutation'. They knocked him unconscious and abandoned him in the Ruined City on the side nearest the Wastelands. He awoke when it just started to rain, the mild burning on his body alerting him. Zaras fled into the nearest building, not caring if anyone was in it he just wanted out of the acidic rain.
When a hand landed itself on his shoulder, Zaras turned his head to stare at the man named Jared. The man and his small family gave him shelter and food and they quickly became the first people Zaras would call his friends. He played with Boyd, Jared's son, who was older than him by a couple years. Like Zaras, Boyd loved to take risks and was very outspoken; this attitude only developing Zaras' own the longer he spent time with them. He learned his mechanics from a guy by the name of Jason Redshear. When Boyd was busy or unavailable, Zaras would intently watch/play around Jason as he worked on his machines. Jason, having no one else to really talk to, would blab about what he was doing and the like just for the sake of talking aloud, thinking that Zaras wasn't listening. Zaras surprised him one afternoon when he put together a bunch of junk meant specifically for the piece Jason was working on and sent them airborne, but unstable. The pieces were lost, Jared and Jason deciding the punishment to be having to sit and help Jason on whatever he needed done.
During his punishment, Zaras got to know a teen by the name of Simon. Simon would drop off new pieces and parts of things he found in the Wastelands, or come to show off something he had built to the only other mechanic in the area. He remained in the Ruined City for 5 years, deciding to explore other areas surrounding the city and promising to visit every once and a while.
He traveled on his own, stealing or fixing whatever mode of transportation he felt he needed, though he was never able to grab anything past the average hover vehicle. Every time he saw any sort of aircraft he wished he could be the one piloting, often practicing with upgraded vehicles in open areas. He attained most of his money honestly, which is spent on the necessities. But when it came to attaining his weapons, he won the blaster in a competition with a drunk at 15 [HY] and he stole the sniper from a dealer he felt deserved it a year later.
When it came to a Psychic-Blocker fight, Zaras tried to stay out of it. Having been no where but Earth, he had met a variety of good and bad psychics and hadn't had pleasant experience with the few Blocker supporters, thus tried not to pick any sides unless it was terribly unbalanced. Those times he would allow himself to be dragged in for the fun of it.
When he was 17 [HY], he met up with some twins who called themselves Mirror and Mire. He was partway across the world from the Metropolis in a desert like area near a small village. In his boredom he had made a sort of attack drone and was training with it when the two psychics came around and thought he was in trouble. They destroyed the drones but explained why. Zaras then took them to the village, only to find that it had been attacked and practically destroyed. The three met up with another psychic who had tried to defend the village, Shadina. The reunion was cut short when the mutated beasts that had attacked returned to finish the job, invoking quite the retaliation from the small group.
It turned out Shadina had come to 'rescue' the twins, but was now unable to get her ship into space thanks to her accidentally crashing it. Zaras volunteered to assist, and upon fixing their ship so it could again rise into the sky more than a couple meters, requested if he could go along with them, offering to be the pilot. He was granted the chance but they didn't get too far away before a couple Blocker ships caught the Rising Star and forced it to land due to heavy fire and the three psychic's shield failing. When Shadina awoke from her temporary black-out, she and Zaras exited the ship to face the crew of the two blocker ships. Shadina discovered an ally among the enemies while the Blockers looked on with surprise at Zaras.
After a diversion from their Blocker friend, Jayson, the psychics, Zaras, and Jayson escaped into the air and headed for DetaB. It was Jayson that divulged the truth as to what Zaras was. Zaras took it quite well, though he kept to himself the fact that he was a bit uncomfortable with it.
When they reached DetaB they were greeted by Vision. She welcomed both Jayson and Zaras, giving them each a room and a slight warning toward how other people might welcome them. While Zaras brushed off most of the stares and the like, he still didn't really appreciate them. The way he saw it, DetaB was isolated and boring. No one was around to have fun with as most of the time the only people he knew were off somewhere on missions and being who he was he wasn't always trusted to pilot on every mission. He felt confined along with isolated so decided to leave by means he was used to. He powered up a ship and went back to Earth, unbeknown to him it was a ship that had pretty much been prepared.
