Andi ate her food in silence, quietly bemoaning he bad luck. 'I can't believe I got kidnapped on my first assignment! What a disappointment I must be. When mom finds out...' She sighed. She could just hear her mother, scolding her for worrying her and comparing her to her older brother, the war hero, who'd died fighting psychics. Although she had to admit, these psychics weren't like how she imagined them. For one thing, Phoenix was treating them like willing guests, and although Shadina wasn't nearly as friendly they weren't treating them badly. In fact, if she didn't think about how Phoenix had tied her up with his powers, she could almost picture them as normal people. They're decent people, I guess. If all psychics are like them then...why the hella re we fighting them?

Art looked around. not much. the pizza smelled good though. he took a slice and tried to eat it down.
"where are you taking us anyways?" Art asked taking a bit of the unexpectedly good pizza.

"Why, DetaB of course!" Phoenix smiled. "Where else would a couple of psychics take their hostages?"
Andi scowled at him, "Are you going to lock us up then?"
"Nope," Phoenix smirked, "At least, not really. You'll be happy to know that DetaB doesn not have actually cells for prisoners. We'll just put you kids up in a nice dorm somewhere until the negotions with Art's father are done with.
"Negotiations!" Andi roared. "You're blackmailing him!"
Phoenix shrugged, "Call it what you will. There's nothing I can do about that now."
Andi scowled at him but eventually sat back down and contentded herself with glaring at the easy-going guy across from her. 'Arrogant jerk,'

Despite herself, Andi giggled. "Is that all you can think about?" She laughed
Phoenix was smiling as well, so she glared at him and he stopped. "Well don't worry Art, nothing is going to happen to us. Your father will deal with these psychics and we can both go back to mars in a couple weeks, right?"
Phoenix shifted in his seat and looked a bit uncomfortable, but he didn't say anything. 'I wonder what his problem is,' Andi thought.

Shadina smirked at the conversation. What she wanted to do was get going, but the others were still going. She had caught Andi's last thought, faint but there nonetheless. She connected her mind to the Blocker's. "Me too." She thought.

Andi blinked in surprise when she heard the voice in her head. She searched the faces of the others and her eyes met Shadina's. She knew it was her. As a Blocker she'd been told about common psychic powers, so she understood that Shadina was using telepathy on her.
'You mean you don't know what that guy is so uptight about either?' She questioned. She spared a glance at Phoenix, who seemed to be recovering from his recent discomfort.
Phoenix stuffed the last of his pizza in his mouth and stretched out his tense limbs. He triedto get his mind off what Andi had said about going back to Mars soon. He'd been researching Art's father and he knew that the man would likely call their bluff. He'd told his superiors numerous times that he didn't think their plan would work, but they sent him on the mission anyway.
What would happen if Ned said that he wasn't going to negotiate with them? That he would go on with this project regarless of the danger his son was in? Would DetaB actually go through with their threats? Phoenix hoped that wasn't the case. He didn't want to have to hurt anyone.

"No idea." Shadina didn't sense any hostility from Andi and was slightly surprised. "Although I suspect it has something to do with him." Her eyes flickered to Art breifly.

That would make sense... Andi pondered. He started acting strangely when I menitoned going home to Mars. Well, whatever Phoenix was worked up about, Andi wasn't about to allow him to hurt her new friend. It was her job to protect him, and although she'd already failed at keeping him from being kidnapped, she wasn't going to let anyone hurt him just because his father was a stubborn fool.
"Well," Phoenix interrupted suddenly, standing up. "I think we've wasted enough time here. We need to get a move on. If I spend all my money on pizza here, I won't be able to pay for all the dates I have lined up for next week!" With a cheerful bounce to his step, he led the way back to the ship.
Andi groaned and got up to follow him. Being kidnapped was proving to be more irritating than it was frightening.
